Flava with a Beat


In 2009, GraceKennedy (Belize) Ltd. introduced the Grace & You Cooking Show on the Open Your Eyes Show on Channel 5 . The cooking show, now called, Grace Flava with a Beat, features all Grace Owned and Branded Products as well as our Strategic Partner products presented to our Belizean and foreign audience, by our in-house chef, Duane Lizama. Chef Duane started on the show on 7th August, 2009 and has been an integral part of the success of the show over the years.

Grace Curry Potatoes #2

  Print Pin Recipe Prep Time 5 minutesCook Time 20 minutesTotal Time 25 minutes Servings 5 Ingredients1/4 Cup Grace Vegetable Oil2 Cloves Garlic Minced1 Tbsp Dried Rosemary2 Tbsp Grace Curry Powder2 Lbs Potatoes2 Tbsp Malher Consome1 Tbsp Malher Black Pepper1 1/2 Cups Water1/4 Cup Butter Melted InstructionsPeel and wash potatoes, slice thinly. In a sauce pan, heat Grace vegetable oil. Add garlic and rosemary and saute over moderate heat until garlic begins to look golden. Remove cooked bits of garlic and rosemary from oil. Reheat grace vegetable oil and add Grace Curry Powder, stir together. Add sliced potatoes, Malher Consome, Malher Black Pepper and water. Stir until ingredients are mixed together and water starts to boil. Cover pot and cook on low heat, for 10-15 minutes, stir occasionally until potatoes are tender. Add melted butter. *Serve Immediately. Video

Tofu Cassava Salad

Print Pin Recipe Prep Time 5 minutesCook Time 10 minutesTotal Time 15 minutes Servings 7 Ingredients5 Tbsp Grace Salad Cream1 Can Grace Mixed Vegetables½ Lb Cassava¾ Lb Tofu Diced1 Onion Diced1 Sweet Pepper Diced1 Can Mushroom1 Tsp Malher Black PepperCorn ChipsGrace Vegetable Oil InstructionsIn A Bowl, Peel, Wash And Dice Cassava. Boil For 5-10 Minutes Or Until Soft. Remove From Heat And Place In A Bowl. Heat Pot On Medium. Add Grace Vegetable Oil To Glaze Pot. Stir In Diced Onions And Sweet Pepper. Saute For A Few Minutes. Remove From Heat. Add To Bowl With Boiled Cassava. Add Grace Mixed Vegetables, Add Grace Salad Cream And Mix With A Spoon. Add Malher Black Pepper. Top With Sliced Mushroom. *Serve With Corn Tortilla Chips Or To Substitute For Potatoe Salad. Video

Coconut Chicken Soup

  Print Pin Recipe Prep Time 15 minutesCook Time 20 minutesTotal Time 35 minutes Servings 4 Ingredients2 Inch Piece Ginger Peeled And Very Thinly Sliced2 cups Grace Coconut Milk1 cup Chicken Stock3 Chicken Breast Fillets Cut Into Thin Strips1-2 Teaspoons Red Chillies Finely Chopped 2 Tablespoons Grace Fish Sauce1 Teaspoon Brown Sugar1/4 Cup Coriander Cilantro Leaves InstructionsCombine The Ginger, Grace Coconut Milk And Stock In A Medium Pan. Bring To The Boil And Simmer, Uncovered, Over Low Heat For 10 Minutes, Stirring Occasionally. Add The Chicken And Chillies To The Pan And Simmer For 8 Minutes. “I have been a Chef as far as I can remember, for over 20 years. I’ve worked in small kitchens, large scale resorts, my own kitchen, and for the past three years I have been honoured to be a part of the Grace Kennedy (Belize) Team, as their in-house chef on Flava with a Beat Cooking Show on Open Your Eyes.

Working with Grace Kennedy is a breeze because the ingredients do most of the work, I just bring them together. The staff is awesome and makes it more enjoyable.”

Chef Duane’s unique style and energy along with the creative collaboration with our team, has generated some great and convenient recipes which all home cooks from novice to pro can prepare for their family.
